Jim McElroy
It may be an understatement to say that Barton James (Jim) McElroy has worked in missions most of his adult life.
After earning a Bachelor's at Ozark Bible College (1971) and a Masters at the University of Missouri (1973), Jim earned a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology at the University of the Philippines, in Quezon City, Philippines (2002). His hunger for knowledge is being quenched with current graduate work on a second Doctorate in Divinity from Master's International School of Divinity, in Evansville, IN.
After working in Yuma AZ and Wichita KS, in 1983 Jim began his long association with the Philippine Mission Churches of Christ of Central Luzon, in the Philippines. Over the years he's held various positions, including currently serving as their Board Chairman, Professor, and Coordinator of the Master of Ministry Program at the Manila Bible Seminary.
Among other adventures, Jim spent time working with the Pioneer Bible Translators and the Puget Sound Christian College, along with holding various interim ministries in the Seattle area.
Currently, Jim serves as Pastor to the Filipino-American Christian Church in Shoreline, WA. Perched on the northwest coast, Jim and Karla often travel to the Philippines on short term missions trips, to teach, and provide aid & relief after natural disasters.
