Return
Kyle has a hand full of small western towns in his past, but he calls Ely, Nevada his hometown. If you talk to him, he’s got stories from living in Price and Provo, Utah as well. Soon after high school in Ely, Kyle left the land of letter jackets, big trucks and his family’s furniture store for the bright lights of UNLV.

To this day, Kyle often tells the story of a cute girl he met while attending UNLV. In the years following Kyle’s introduction to said girl, Joy, they married and hung around Las Vegas for a while. Eventually, Kyle left his job at Ford to follow a pastoral calling. That calling found him commuting back and forth between Vegas and Phoenix to attend Fuller Theological Seminary for a few years.

Fast forward a bit and Kyle is pastoring Home Communities and Youth at Imago Dei Community in Portland, Oregon. In that time, through a series of events, Kyle found himself exploring the idea of planting a church among a people he loved in the state of his birth: Utah. Now, Kyle is the lead pastor of Missio Dei Community, a group of Christ followers seeking exalt to Jesus in all streams of culture. He prays to see a city not engaged in rote religion but one that knows the goodness of God’s grace and the power of Jesus’ resurrection through relationship.

Outside of Missio Dei you might find Kyle running the streets of Salt Lake preparing for another marathon, hiking the mountains with Joy, watching a baseball game with his son Isaiah, enjoying good food and drink with friends or skiing the slopes of Big Cottonwood Canyon.
